Parts of the Uniform

These of the names of common pieces of Sea Cadet attire.

Seaman’s Cap

  • Worn in all order of uniform (Except C-4 and sports Dress);
  • Worn with Cap Tally (bow on the left); and
  • Chinstay must be sewn in.

Cap Tally

  • Worn on the Seaman’s Cap with bow on left side;
  • See instructions for how to hand tie it.

Tunic

  • Worn in all orders of dress (except C-2, C3A, C-4 and Sport Dress); and
  • All badges must be sewn on properly and with proper colour thread (see instructions for further details);
  • Must be worn with Lanyard and Tunic Belt;
  • Free of lint;
  • No creases anywhere on the tunic when ironed;
  • Name tags are worn over right breast pocket (if issued); and
  • Medals are worn for C-1 / Ribbons are Worn for C-3.

Lanyard

  • Worn in all orders of dress with the tunic (except C-2, C3A, C-4 and Sport Dress);
  • Worn around the neck under the collar;
  • Knot is placed on the first done up button, loops around the second done up button and remainder in the pocket; and
  • Must always be white.

Tunic Belt

  • Always worn with the tunic;
  • Worn counter-clock wise around the waist; and
  • Free of lint.

Gun Shirt

  • Worn in all orders of dress (expect C-2, C-4 and Sports Dress);
  • Worn under the tunic;
  • Must be ironed with a sharp crease down the centre and on both sleeves; and
  • Must always be white.

Workdress Shirt

  • Worn in C-4 dress only;
  • Worn with rank slip-ons;
  • Worn with black t-shirt;
  • Must be ironed with a sharp crease down both sleeves; and
  • Sleeves must be flat-rolled to past the elbow (width of the cuff).

Tee Shirt

  • Worn in C-4 and Sport Dress only; and
  • Must be clean.

Pants Belt

  • Worn in all orders of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn with pants belt; and
  • Worn with Brass-on-Brass (Buckle is adjustable to ensure the excess length is hidden).

Socks

  • Worn in all orders of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn with parade boots; and
  • Shall be worn with another pair of athletic sock underneath for added comfort (NOTE: Ensure you wear another pair of sock underneath, the material may bother skin sensitive to wool).

Parade Boots

  • Worn in all orders of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn with socks;
  • Will be polished to a high gloss finish (See instructions for further details on how to polish); and
  • Free of dirt.

Parka (Inner)

  • Worn over all order of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn during the fall/spring months as outer wear;
  • Worn with the Park (Outer) as the liner during winter;
  • Worn with rank slip-ons; and
  • Free of lint.

Parka (Outer)

  • Worn over all order of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn during the winter months as outer wear;
  • Worn with the Park (Inner) as the liner during winter;
  • Worn with rank slip-ons; and
  • Free of lint.

Toque

  • Worn over all order of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn during the winter months as outer wear (in exchange of the Seaman’s Cap and Ball Cap);
  • Worn with the Parka during winter; and
  • Free of lint.

Winter Gloves

  • Worn over all order of dress (expect Sports Dress);
  • Worn during the winter months as outer wear;
  • Worn with the Parka during winter; and
  • Free of lint.

Ball Cap

  • Worn in C-4 only; and
  • Free of lint.

Rank Slip-On

  • Worn for C-4 dress and on the Parka; and
  • Free of lint.
